How battles are won
Units rarely die to the last man; they break and run. Morale falls with casualties, flank and rear attacks, fatigue, nearby routs and losing the general. Pin the enemy front with infantry, then strike a flank or the rear with cavalry. Never charge cavalry into the front of braced pikes or spears. Rivers, mud and walls disorder formations; elephants terrify horses but panic under javelins.
